Shadow Love

You make me wonder,
My shadow love.
How could you choose me,
A mortal?
When clearly you are an angel?
What do you see when you levitate above
My dreaming face?
Breathe your light into my life.

How can you love me,
My shadow love?
Do you know what lies
Beneath these clothes?
Single words that multiply
into thousands more.
Baggage that hangs from all corners,
of my fucked up mind.
And dull brown eyes,
faded, and glassy.

You told me I shine,
My shadow love.
But that shimmer came and passed.
Can you make me glitter again,
Shiny, new?
I feel as if I have nothing left to lose.
However, my last defenses are on the table.
All that's left of me is yours for the taking.
My soul is so patched from breaking.
The last love I had left me shaking,
My heart weathered and aching.
Just promise me this isn't regret in the making.

Most everything about you,
My shadow love.
Seems too sweet to be substantial.
Where is that bitterness
my tongue has grown accustomed
to tasting?
Yet I fight to believe that these
demons have fled.
And cling to the thought
that I am worthy of angels.
Despite the wickedness
so prevalent within me.
Perhaps you can save me,
My shadow love.
I'd hate to know that
I have gone to waste.
Just another soul overlooked,
and underrated.
The best has yet to bloom.
Could my life’s' crescendo finally sound?
I know these notes have been building up.
These discarded bars,
and grim bridges.
All leading up to create my own song.
A song of content.

Wow. for the first time in quite a while, I don't know what to say. **regains thought** This is magnificent, so much impact in your words! I know how it feels to think you're not good enough, and I love LOVE the ending with the music metaphors! Please keep writing!!!

Thank you so much! Yeah music is my highest inspiration, and then love of course.
