Favorite Quote:
"The reason most people never reach their goals is they don't deem them as acheivable. Winners can tell you where you're going, who will share the adventure with them, and what they plan to do along the way." ~Dennis Watley

Down blue veins I travel inside
your flat iris looking for
hardened words.

My eyes are searching for
broken elbows, red skin
iron heart,
fist.

Anything to show marks
till I remember
words don’t leave scars.

Your face will stay perfect
untouched, unmarred
until I raise my hand.
and leave you
smashed, fallen, distorted
in my beautiful rage.

Instead, I am kneeling
gravel leaving
indentations in my palms,
watching ants crawl
into raw nerve.

The author's comments:
This piece was written after reading the book "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahnuik, upon reflecting on the image of not just a physical beating, but a mental one.

The title, Cordis, is latin for "of the heart"
