I reminisce about the day we met
Our feelings took off like a jet
What is love, but an emotion
Too strong and so pure
That nurtured and shared with another
All tests it will endure?
Driving down the highway,
Windows rolled down,
Our favorite songs playing,
The wind blowing through my hair,
We aren’t thinking ‘bout tomorrow
Thumb over, thumb under?
When I look at you I wonder.
We talk about the strangest things
From the problems we face, to the posters on the walls,
Our lives are spent with inside jokes and laughter.
I know one day we’ll live happy ever after.

You hold me when I need to be held
You kiss me when I’m down
You smile at me to ease the pain
That everyday life throws in my way
You tell me the things I need to hear
Stopping me from shedding a tear.
You are constantly a mood lifter
Making me feel better with every word you say
I know one day we’ll see the future.

Our fingers interlocked
This doesn’t come as a shock
Thumb over, thumb under?
It unites us as one
Like the beating hot sun
When I look at you I see hope,
One that cares and one that knows
That sees beyond the outer skin
Into the person deep within.

In your eyes I see our present
Our future and past
By the way you look at me I know we will last.
So let us freeze this moment
Store it safely away
Even if we leave this place
We'll return to it someday.
