Open Your Eyes
Eyes filled with tears as we all have to say goodbye
Wishing we had a time machine, so we could just rewind
Back to that day,
When we were all together, everyday.
When we gathered at Bdubs, sharing our lives with one another.
When we all kept such close contact,
But now one of us is growing up, and leaving to start a new chapter in his life.
We keep thinking three months will fly bye.
As we slowly walk up to the plain building, the memories start to flood our minds.
There were the best friends, the girlfriend, and the family.
Uncomfortable chairs, white blah walls, and lighting that didn’t help.
As the future marines pile out into the lobby,
We all stare in awe of the great duty they will be apart of.
Three months of hot scorching heat, and hard drills are waiting for them

Little sleep,
Food that hardly filled you up,.

As we all watch, our hearts break at the sight of them.
Its not goodbye, its I will see you later.
Tears streaming down her face,
She’s weak in the knee as she watches her man load that bus.
It hits her like a bullet straight through her heart,
No way of talking other than letters,
At least she knows their love will remain the same.
The engine starts up, like nails on a chalkboard.
As it drives away, we all take pictures with our eyes,
Capturing that last look of our friend, our marine
