Forced to write a poem for an A
But what forced poem is a good poem
Like what good are words that never had a say?

Because the teacher told me too
The teacher and the students in a system
just a place to go, a thing to do

History and Band class too
Poem I wrote to those who hide in corners

For the children who never had a say
Who lived within limits
Of a world they cannot revisit again another day

But I said no when the teacher wanted to publish it
Because I wanted to keep if for myself
And never tell a soul about it
