I Find Myself At Peace
I lay quietly in the grass,
allowing a sweet silence to wash over me.
I feel the warm, sticky air enter and exit my body, allowing me to breathe,
slowing my heart to an even pace.
My eyes close as I wait for sleep.
 I am safe here,
 I let my guard down.
The images of the day dash quickly through my mind. My muscles
tense as the feelings of fear and desperation come flooding back.
But these grievances soon leave me when I remember
 I'm safe.
 This is my serenity,
 my escape.
