She looked in a mirror
And discovered a part of her
That she didn’t like, that couldn’t possibly be her
So she smashed it

At breakfast she saw a girl in her spoon
That couldn’t be her
This girl had frightened eyes lined with hate
So she threw the spoon in the garbage

While walking to school
She saw a stranger’s image in her IPod
That was haggard and dark
So she gave it to a nearby creek

At school when she closed her locker
She saw a reflection of a girl
Whose eyes were lost behind streams of confusion
So she walked away, avoiding prying eyes

At night she saw a reflection in her window
A girl on the edge of a cliff looking for an answer
She didn’t know what to say
So she turned off her light and
Closed her eyes.
