I am a shadow.
No, I don't mean what you think I do.
I don't creep out of sight,
The farthest from your mind-
Intentionally invisible.
No, I am shadow.
I am pasted to the ground,
Unable to turn around
Bound to your uncaring self.
And even though I scream for help,
And claw at the cement
in attempt
To forget and be free
You will never think twice about me.
I am a shadow, and I'm only free after sunset
And in the safe haven that is the black, moonlit night
I can flourish and be myself, but I am still out of sight.
In the darkness, I write broken poems-
Verses here and there, burst of emotions,
But even I don't understand them.
A worthless bard in a sea of warriors,
A news-less courier.
One more poor-me mourning poem
Before I show my face
To the garish light of day.
And my pitiful magic is silenced.
I am shadow once more,
Unseen like before,
Unable to break my chains of faceless-ness.
I follow you through chat and conversation,
Hear your plans of expansion, innovation,
Entertainment.
Parties, to which I'm only invited by default,
Which I'll float through gracelessly,
Namelessly,
Painfully,
Giving up my precious night to you.
And do you want to know my secret?
It is you, I most despise.
I can't wait for your demise,
So I can become real in light
And not only in night.
I am a shadow.
