"let go of what kills you & hold on to what keeps you breathing"

I sit in class waiting for the bell
Hoping no one notices
The tearstained face of mine
Ive kept my head down in every class
So they think im sleeping
And if they see my eyes
They’ll think im tired
But im not sleeping
And im not tired
I keep my head down
So no one sees the tears
Roll down my face
I never showed her any affection
I never told her that I loved her
I never appreciated the things she did for me
And I should have
You never really know what you have is good
Until its gone
I always thought she would pull through
And she never did
Last night I laid in her bed
The exact spot she used to lay in
And slept until I had to go to school
I still havent told anyone
Not even my best friend
I havent told them
That my mothers life came to an end
