Sitting all alone
I think to myself.
Wonder where you are,
where you’ll be,
how you are.
I ask myself all these questions
I should be asking you.
And now I’m writing a poem
on the back of a napkin
with a circular coffee stain.
And I’m making up answers
to my questions
because I’m far too afraid
to get them from you.

The title is another one of mine that was just floating around. I wrote this poem to fit it.

Except that the poem about a poety writing and lying and the poem itself is a lie, if that makes sense. This never happened. "I'm a writer; therefore, I lie." The voice, 'I', wrote a poem lying about whoever 'I' am talking about by making up answers to questions and I am making up this poem. I hope I explained that well.
