- What Matters
I often sit and quietly ponder
Why do you look at me the way you do?
Do you dream of me in the depths of slumber?
Or think into the future - is it just me and you?
Your smile is like the sun on a winter's day
Excited, teasing, welcoming and warm
But what makes you smile at me that way?
Is it friendship? Maybe more? Are your feelings torn?
Your touch hints at closely kept secrets
Or is it telling me what they really are?
Are you trying to show or keep it?
Or did i maybe just read it too far?
Your eyes tell me a fairytale story
But it's one I don't quite understand
Do they search or are they eyes only for me?
Do you see us strolling together hand in hand?
Your voice calms all my worries inside
And eases my heart's troubled pain
But why is it only you that can push my troubles aside?
Why is it only your words that keep me sane?
But above all else, I ask the question
Why do I notice the effects you have on me?
When you look at me, why do you always have a changed expression?
Is it because you love me? Or is that how I want it to be?
