Once upon a looking glass
In a land not far away
A chipmunk sat upon a rock
As dusk slipped into day
Once upon a crystal lake
Grass blades swaying in the wind
A mother deer stood in the wood
Teaching secrets that it hid
Once upon a bright blue sky
In a nest above our heads
A father eagle took his turn
Guarding two tiny little eggs
Once upon a moonlit sky
An owl sang her song
Of winters past and summers seen
And days that have now gone
Once upon a time
When I was just a little kid
I chanced upon the island
Where all these creatures live.
