A Battles' Mark

Memories of my battles,
are not to be put on a shelf.
Shall rust they not.
Nor stain nor blot.
Never to be forgotten,
not till I'm dead.
They are permanently marked,
right there on my skin.
Not ever to go away,
far after I decay.
My spirit will live on,
as shall they.
Though these battles are small
not important to the world.
They have taught me plenty,
how to survive in this cruel world.
These battles leave scars,
both physical and mental.
Forever patient,
fighting battle after battle.
