Originality. . .weren't we always told to be a leader and never follow the crowds?
To set our own trends and always be true to ourselves?
I don't know about you but I still get told that every day.
So why is it when I try to be myself, you always have something negative to say?
I could see if what i was doing was dangerous, but honestly there is nothing dangerous about me.
You stopped loving me because I'm "different". How stupid are you?
You want me to be "normal"! How can I be something that doesn't exist?
Think about it. . .what exactly is "normal"?
When you come up with it let me know. . .don't worry I'll wait.
But until then, I'm going to keep being who I am, because in all honesty I love who I am.
Yes I go by many many names...but they all refer back to the same person...me!
You say that I've changed, that I'm not the same.
When the truth is I'm just not what you wanted me to be.
But then again, I thought all you wanted me to be was happy and healthy?
Nope! I knew it was too good to be true. You want me to be just like you!
Well if you wanted that, then you should have made a clone of yourself.
As people grow, they discover more and more about themselves.
Causing them to adapt and readjust...but never change.
For in the end we are still the same old us...just older...and wiser.
You can talk until you are blue in the face, but I'm not listening.
You ask if I hear you. Yes I hear you loud (and I do mean loud) and clear.
You ask me am I paying attention. . .but you never say to what.
So my response is yes, I'm paying attention, but just not to you...so please hush.
I hate to be so mean but it's the truth.
There is nothing you can do to fix me and really I don't need fixing.
So stop poking and prying and acting as though I'm three years old
Give me the respect I need- give me the respect I deserve.
I don't want to act this way towards you but you are forcing me to.
Why can't you just accept me the way I am and just move on?
Well too bad it looks as though you have no choice.
Sorry it had to be this way.
But these is now nothing left to say...except...
I am who I am and that means you have got to deal with it or move on!
As Rihanna so nicely put it..."To be what you is you have to be what you are"
I'm me...take it or leave it.
