Am I never allowed to be happy?
Is it never okay?
I always have to act a certain way
I'm not good enough for everyone else
There will always be someone "better"
And being myself is never enough
I just want to smile
Without feeling guilty
I want to laugh
Without having to worry
I'm imprisoned in my own misery
And in my dark thoughts
I just want to feel happy
That is all I want

The author's comments:
With the struggles that I face in life it seems as if the negative people around me make it seem as if I am never allowed to be happy even when things get a little tough. And that being myself and being who I am will never be enough. Sometimes people around you can make you feel bad and try to tell you it isn't okay to be happy if everything isn't perfect. I think it is important to always try to look at life in a positive way even when things get a little hard. It is okay to be happy and I want people to get that from this poem. You don't have to listen to what other people say, you have the right to feel however you want to.

jessss, truely u seem like a great person and ur poems today have desribed everything i was afraid to admitt. i have to say they touched my heart. and u will reach ANY GOAL U SET IN LIFE BECAUSE UR AMAZING!!!!!! and dont let anyone tell u different. Beautiful, I agree you don't take any negative comments to heart just be happy, life is too short not to be.
