Fear is a cracked mirror in a forgotten house.
Images of the person multiplied infinitely,
each another facet to the dark background,
my parents themselves the products of dual homes,
I remember beat-downs walking home through the bad part of town, the days I went to bed with little hope of waking up
Siblings drifting away, leaving only unused bedding in their wake
So I'm fearful as I step out of the doorway, out of the house of my childhood, of the upbringing of my children, but I let it go...smash it as I smashed the mirror and watch the pieces fall
