Best Friends

Best friends are beautiful,
Inside and out.
You became ugly on the inside,
That is where it counts.
Because you are prettier than you were before,
I don’t have a best friend.
Not anymore.

The author's comments:
I was inspired by my friend becoming more concerned with appearances than how great she really was. Lip gloss didn't make her beautiful, kindness and compassion did.
