Timing
there was no time to watch you leave
 no time to say goodbyes
there was only time to look up at you
 as you passed me by

 i reached out my hand
but all it found was air
your scent then was still strong
 your presence lingering there

 looking up towards the heavens
then, looking down at my feet
i find the earth continues spinning
though now a little more offbeat

 life flies by my eyes
too fast for me to think
 but i don’t dare to close them;
things still happen when you blink

 i don’t know when next we’ll meet
for i don’t know where you went
but when that time does come
i’ll make sure it’s time well spent
