Favorite Quote:
"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king."
~Aragorn's Verse, The Fellowship of the Ring

Each time she turns around
She sees his shadow
Each time her eyes close
She sees his face
Every time she hears a sound
It's his voice
Each time she has a dream
She watches their memories

They run through the fields
Spinning and laughing
He chases her around
And tackles her among the flowers
White blue and black
Flower petals are strewn around
Wind teasing their hair
And the colors mix, blend, fade

Now she's in a room
She sees herself on a bed
Holding a newborn baby girl
He leans over her smiling
They look so happy
So content in their lives
But she knows it can't last
She knows what will come

She is cowering in a corner
He's standing over her
Spit flies from his mouth
So strong is his shouting
She looks to the door
Hoping, praying her daughter
Doesn't wake up and cry
And draw his wrath

She's in the hospital again
She stopped counting the times
It’s the same old story
Again and again she tells them
"I fell down the stairs"
But they don't believe her
They try to get her to leave
But she can’t do it for herself

This time he's after her daughter
This time she has the power
She shoves him away
Grabs her daughter and runs for the door
She knows he's chasing her
And she runs all the faster
She has to get away
Before he harms her little girl

He's in jail now
She knows she's for a time
But it doesn't keep her
From looking over her shoulder
Expecting him to be behind her
Expecting to be back in the house
Expecting all this to be a fantasy
That she will wake up from

She's at his tombstone
A fight he started in prison
The guards told her
That got him knifed
She knows she shouldn't feel sorrow
After all, what had he put her through?
But that doesn't keep the tears back
Because he still held a part of her heart

Her daughter's all grown up now
With a family of her own
She doesn't remember her father
And for that she is grateful
But a part of her still watches
With every passing second
For that familiar memory
For that familiar man

I have never experienced anything like this, so this is all speculation and based on stuff I've heard/read. It was primarily inspired by a fanfic I read.
