The Petal
Pacing back and forth
Waiting for my petal to fall
Hours upon hours
I feel the pain of the tree
The tree sap dripping off
People rushing in from all over
Caring
Nurturing
Making sure it’s okay
Petals fill the marvelous view
None of them belong to me
This one petal will be mine
The petal gets ready to detach
The tree lets it go
Slowly it falls
Through the swift, cool breeze
The wind carries it
Softly
Gently
And places it in my hands
