I have this undying hostility towards you
You kept me up on the phone until four a.m. five days a week
You stole countless hours of sleep from my nights
You took me away from my family
You blinded me
Or maybe that was your enemy love

You may make the heart grow fonder, but that game can only last so long
And every mile you created between him and I only made him grow fonder of temptation

Maybe my mind grew blind as my heart took precedence
But I did love, and so did he

I thought love was supposed to conquer all things
And I want to believe that love prevails

But you, distance, keep proving me wrong

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this because of my past experience with a long distance relationship. I wanted to show others the emotions I felt and the pain I was put through when distance pulled my boyfriend and I apart.
