i am rusty branches and pretty
scratches and
everywhere.
there’s a pulse i can hear
(like thunder, but scarier)—
your shoes crunch my leaves and
i face up and hold my
blue breath away from your
cautious ears. the hollow sun
finds my color and whispers you
a song of hide and seek and i am
lost and bound in the thick of trees.
you are eerily silent, seeing,
waiting. i tremor gently as the wind
teases my hair and you are
lonely here, gasping for my face.
can you see me?
