"When in doubt...keep reading. A book will never die on you" -John Van De Ruit (The Guv from "Spud")

New York sewer rats have rolled me around in rings of dirt
I thought I could lay down with criminals but me and my mileage got hurt
I feel it like when I first step out of a rushing wave pool
And I got left raw and rung out like meat, you kissed my hand and called me “tool”

And fell and I’m stuck in a lion’s den
And I wish I said no again and again and again

Fifteen million faces shook their heads at me
You called me lovely but poke out eyes so no one else can see

Hold me, bight me, swallow me
Down to your freak show
Push me, prod me, make me
Tell you how good you are but you don’t know
Those “compliments”
Hit me like bricks
You’re undying concern
Pound on every angry nerve
All you were
And will be
Is time I’ll never retrieve

This piece is all about that one "mistake hookup" we've all had in our lives. The ones where we walk away thinking "What was I thinking?" In a way it's sorta a anthem but it's also a little look into my personal expierence with this messy situation. Enjoy!
