Tendrils of chimney smoke curl upward
Toward the bleak, November sky
Fading into the stormy clouds
Hanging far above.
An icy wind rushes to the ground
Hurrying the few pedestrians
Back to their homes
To hide from the worsening weather
And pretend winter has not come
And the glorious days of summer
Have not passed.
