The Lake
The ripples followed as I sailed away
The lake was still on this dazzling day
I watched the sun as it disappeared-
The darkness came and stars appeared
The moon was aglow and cast a light-
Onto the boat from such a height
The lake shimmered from the moonlit gleam
And I fell asleep gazing at the scene
When I awoke all was wrong
The sky was dark- a storm to come along
The lake was ragging with powerful swaying
I headed for shore, not delaying
I returned to the house and watched the storm
The lightening and thunder chimed and swarmed
I patiently waited for the storm to pass
To enjoy the lake once at last.
