I Remember
I remember waiting eagerly
When dad would make chocolate-chip muffins.
I remember watching secretly
When mom would watch Dark Angel.
I remember listening with all my attention
To my dad’s silly stories
I remember learning how to climb a tree like a monkey
With my parents watching my every move so that I wouldn’t get hurt.
I remember playing on the tire swing
With my best friends.
I remember going to school,
Eager to learn and to goof off.
I remember smiling, laughing, loving…
That was my childhood.
