[you are a slap in the face of love.]

Confusion bites into my lip
With teeth that chatter as I shake
You’re pushing me so far away
I receive bruises from the passing air
And I don’t know what else to do
So I give in and recede quickly
To the darkening darkness found in shadows
That has surrounded our love since the sunlight hours when
You took a kiss of mine and gave it away
And I swore to you that was one embrace
I would never be able to reclaim
Because now it belonged to someone else
And months passed by without word from me
About the pain you had so surely caused
And you moved on like it never happened
Told me to respect myself or you’d leave me
But how can I respect myself when you don’t respect me?
I’m nothing more than a bug on your shoe
You say you love me, I believe you do
But your idea of love is twisted and warped
Like the bark of an old weeping willow tree
The wind of time has skewed the face
Of poor, senseless Aphrodite
Love never saw it coming, no
And neither did I.
And so you push and shove,
Then pull me back
As My heart is receiving whiplash
I’m your little rag doll
Go on and pull my strings.
I still love you.

I think this is quite a write. I love the title you are a slap in the face of love. I can relate to this poem as I know someone who I loved but not anymore as they turned into a control freak. Lucky I left them. This poem is full of emotions and you expressed them really deeply and thats out standing.
