Seizure
There are no earthquakes here,
but something shook me off
the very face of the earth
that night.
It spun me from my axis
knocked me from my orbit
and hurtled me into a world where
living feels like falling asleep
dying feels like falling in love
and I, I feel
as only a poet can feel:
discontent and searching,
waiting for the universe to reclaim me
and return me
to the bright shining heaven
I never meant to discover.
