St. Valentine's Day
The boy slowly wanders
Down the hall of the store.
He has bought her a gift,
But he wants to give more.
The shelves are bare,
No more gifts left to give.
He wishes for some,
But his wish does not live.
He leaves the store
As his smile turns to a frown.
He was feeling happy,
But now he feels down.
He drives to her place,
Wipes his feet on the rug.
She opens the door
And gives him a hug.
His smile returns
And his face fills with joy.
It is such a good day
For this poor little boy.
He gives her the gift
And her face becomes bright.
It's a small little gift,
But a wonderful night.
The girl takes the bear
And sits at the fire.
The boy slowly joins her,
And they sit for a while.
The time they share,
And the thoughts they speak.
Their bond grows strong,
But their voices go weak.
Their love for each other
Is not often found.
They hold each other close
As they lay on the ground.
The fire glows bright,
As beside it they lay.
They speak of their love
On this St. Valentine's Day
