Child/Adult Poem
As a child.
Life is so hard.
If only I had known how easy being a fetus had been.
I run and I play.
School is so hard.
Adding and subtracting.
Multiplying and dividing.
Being with my family.
As a teen.
Life is so hard.
If only I had known how ignorance was bliss.
I run and I play.
School is so hard.
Squaring and rooting.
Solving and simplifying.
Being with my family.
What I hope it will be like.
Life isn’t so hard.
If only I had known how those experiences would build me.
Work is so hard.
Making money.
Playing with my children.
Wondering if they think, “Life is so hard.”
Being with my family.
