I just left the scene
Handgun in my pocket
My heart is pumping
My body is shaking
As I ride my bike away
There it is, act cool
Sirens start to scream
I get scared
Pedal, pedal I can run
But I know deep inside I can’t
I finally drop the bike
I start to run, cutting through yards
Will I make it
Under a porch I go
I think they lost me
I’m holding my breath
I feel someone grab my leg
I’m getting dragged out
I shouldn’t have run
I have made a mistake
Lord just kill me now
I don’t want to go to jail
Put your hands behind your back
My soul wants to do it
But my body won’t let me
There it comes again
Put your hands behind your back
They are gonna taiser me
I put my hands behind my back
One side of the cuff is on
I hop up and run
Before they get the other on
What am I thinking
I’m an idiot
Run faster, faster
Into my car
What is my body doing
I want to stop
Driving, driving
Jamming the pedal with my foot
Where is the break
Come on press it
But no I’m up on the bridge
Sparks are flying
I’m grinding against the side
Then I roll, they pull me out
What was I thinking
This isn’t me
They get me cuffed and search me
Then here comes the question
What were you thinking
I was telling myself to stop
But my body wouldn’t listen
I just sat there quietly
Sirens start up again
I’m going to jail
I asked myself
What was I thinking
No answer
Ever since then
My soul has been missing.
