The Truth of Poetry
Poetry
Is a window an da mirror
Showing emotions
All spread out on paper
Without apologies
Or excuses
Or maybe
Poetry
Is a tale and a story
That is just too much to write
But needs more
Perhaps
Poetry
Is a song
That has been shorn of its tune
And left bare to face the world
But I think poetry is a photo
That shows all the world in one
From the dregs, the slums, the broken dreams
To the sky-high skyscrapers and gated mansions
Built upon those desires already achieved
Poetry allows a glimpse
Into all things, nothing untold
