Three Words

Bet you wish you'd never said
Those three words
I love you

It makes you have to care
Ties you down, have to commit
Bet you wish you'd given up
When you had the chance
Because you weren't ready
For those three words
I love you.

But now you say you see
See all the light in me
Where were you when I needed you
And you said you were afraid
Afraid of those three words
I love you.

You said I'd be happier,
Become a better person without you
But now I've hit my all time low,
Scared to let the real me show
Said you never meant to hurt me.
So now you say you mean
Those three words:
I love you.

Now I don't want them
Don't want you or your pity
My thirteen years without you hurt
But you didn't care
You claimed you were scared
Said you were hurt and lost
You can be scared, hurt, and lost
Without me now
Because those three words
I love you
Never meant anything to you

I had someone else to tuck me in
He is my dad, You're just a father
You were never there
He loved me as his own
You lied to me, decieved me
He's been there for me
Checking in on me
When his little girl had been hurt
All he had to say
Those three words
I love you.

He was man enough to take me in
He wasn't scared, lost, or hurt
He just believed in me
Supported me
And now I can say
Those three words
I love you.
