\"Drugs. Best Friend. Worst Enemy. Heart Breaker.\"

I don’t know why I bother,
Why I bother trying to succeed,
When I know I will fail.
Why bother trying to find love,
When I am aware there is none.
I’m screaming for help on the inside,
However I still say why bother,
For I know there is nobody there.
It feels as if everybody in the world is heard-except for me,
For I am silenced.
Living a life to its fullest,
Why bother-I will die in the end anyway,
Right?…

The author's comments:
This piece was inspired by Matthew Shepard, a young homosexual man who was beaten to death for being gay. The poem "Why Bother?" speaks for those who are being silenced by others, this is how they feel...maybe even how we all feel deep down.
