Knowledge makes a leader, ignorance a follower...

Whether thine heart is an empty box
Filled only when times are of sorrow
Whether thine soul is chained down
Bare and underappreciated
Whether thine life is corrupt with
Strangers, and worries, you hide.

You show a different side
Of a barrier made of brick
On one side is a garden of serenity
Cherry blossoms floating on a pond reflecting the sun
The other side, Behold!
A barren wasteland of dark despair
Harboring broken souls and smeared dreams

A Power awakens beyond your control
On the side of the wall whispering lies
Soon your wall is made of glass
A shadow is present looking through your disguise
When suddenly the glass shatters
And on the other side, you see yourself…

This was written up for a writing exhibit at my school. Just a place to share your work, but now I wanted to share it to more. I know that numerous people feel like this. That there life is unfair and nomatter what they do, they can't make a difference. On the outside they look like a perfect person with everything going for them. The truth is, that is the opposite of their truth. This is truly a poem about masks. The Power that I mention in it, well, that is all up to you. The only thing that can break through your barrier is this Power. Whether it be Love, Trust, ect... you still have a chance. Everybody does.
