dreamstate
The quiet is calling your name
Run, embrace its warmth
It’s all you can count on right now
That voice in your head knows
Understands when you need time alone
Gentle lullaby’s play while you drift
In and out of conscience
That state of half sleep, half awake
Your dream state where
Clouds never seem too high
And leaping from one to the other
Is as easy as breathing
It’s when you remember that
Your dream state is only a temporary
Relief to an on going struggle
Clouds turn gray
And the noise comes back
Quiet has left you
And your voice is angry
That you were gone for so long
You’ve missed so much
Your quiet dream state
Is often interrupted like this
Constantly bombarded with intruders
The noise rising from beneath
First the bump of a bass
That’s your first warning sign
The static then begin to fill your ears
There’s no way you stop the inevitable now
Sirens come screaming through
Lights burn your pupils
And your eyelids clamp shut
Where is your quiet?
What about your dream state
Your voice is bitching
And the lullaby’s call to you warmly
Retreat, for the worst is over now
Your voice will understand
For it always does
It just gets mood every now and then
Fall gracefully back into the quiet
Sleep now and let your dream state wait just this once
Rest well precious, the sun won’t come up
To early tomorrow
