Ode to Cape Hatteras
Beautifully visible through the morning mist,
There stands a winding red and white striped lighthouse,
Painted to perfection.
Behind it lies an ocean,
Whispering the secrets of nature,
Whistling songs of serenity.
Unable to look away, unable to resist,
Feeling the urge to climb is unbearable,
The welcoming vibe is tranquilizing.
Walking through the doorway with no notion,
Elevating up twisted stairs,
Humidity sticks to skin like glue to paper.
Leaning on the railing to reminisce,
Heartbeat slowing,
This view lasts a lifetime.
