I Miss You
When I heard the news
The world came to a crashing halt
And my heart was ejected out of my chest
From the impact
I sat on my bed
Clutching the phone to my ear
While my throat constricted
And the tears began to fall
For the rest of the day
I lay in bed crying
Thinking of our last conversation
And all those left forever unspoken
They say it gets better
But my pillow remains tear stained
And every thought that races through my mind
Is laced with memories of you
It’s been four weeks
And I miss you terribly
It hurts to think I will never
Get to speak to you again
I will never
Get to hold you
To hug you
To kiss you
To tell you
I love you
I still love you
And I will always love you
One day
We will see each other again
In the afterlife
We will spend eternity together
Until then
I will forever long for you
But I know you're in a better place
