nervous noises

More by this author
ascetic sounds
battle the noises of running gears
of a running mind.

The volume raised several times
What’s that noise?
well I don’t know its gotta be the exhaust, yeah I need a new one.

louder now, louder than before at least
Its shaking,
the side view mirrors are shaking
it’s the engine, yes old engine. it’s a ninety-seven ya know
the light turns green.

why are you sweating, its forty-five degrees outside
Have you got a fever then?
Well it’s the exhaust don’t you know,
i told you it needs to be replaced.

What was that i cant really hear you, there’s something
it sounds like beating, thumping almost.
i don’t know, but like i said i’m pretty sure it’s the exhaust.

are you sure you’re alright,
i know it has a lot of miles but it should…
Oh you mean me.

She was framed by the doorway in black dress
her eyes smiled as he pulled noisily up the drive.
