In the valley of war, where guns still cry;
The river runs red,
And flows on by;
It soaks all the roads,
Goes down every street;
It drenches the shoes, beneath the living’s feet.
In the valley of war, where joy doesn't bloom;
There's never to win,
Only to lose;
How much can you lose?
The list never ends;
You may lose your life, a lover,
Or a friend.
The guilt of the lost, that stays in the heart
Of those who survived
Will tear them apart;
But we must live on,
For their sake and ours,
Their love left behind
Will strengthen us by the hour.
So no matter what grief
The future holds in store,
For them, we’ll survive
This valley of war.
