If Only The R.u.l.e.s Didn't Apply
If only the rules didn't apply,
to our desprate situation,
if only when i looked at you;
making eyes and covering smiles,
you could throw the same back at me,
without them breaking stride,
to say it's not right.
If only the rules didn't apply,
in these times of hurt and despiration,
if only you could hold me,
if only you could kiss me,
and maybe love me if you wanted to,
without them breaking stride,
to say its not right.
So sadly the rules do apply,
and so sadly theres hesitation,
when you go, out lips will remain untouched,
our hands, forbidden to be intertwined,
and both feet nailed to the ground,
for they would have broken stride,
and said it wasnt right.
