Never Ending War

Stuck in the cross fire,
Of a never ending war,
Death and destruction,
Banging at the door.
You might win the battle,
But you just can't win the war.
When fear and failure take control,
Is anything right, does anyone know?
When the battle is lost,
And the casualties numbered,
When families and friends,
Do nothing but suffer,
Will anyone realize what has been lost?
Can anyone realize,
What one war can cost?
When so many lives are gone,
You'd think we could all just get along.
