i wish upon a star

the first star of night
it glows a white gold
against the dark canvas
it is a star like any other star
it may have a name
a galaxy life dotting its planets
these things however are
unimportant as deep contemplation
furrows my brow
what is it that I wish for
what is is that I long for
i look over hand clasped in yours
soft breath
coming out in condensation
through your smiling lips
i smile back turn my head
once more to the sky
and watch as the artist
of night speckles his canvas
with stars
