First Snow

Have you ever looked outside
While it snows the first snow of the winter?
If you haven’t
You should

Because to watch all the white
Little flakes
Fall gently
Gracefully
To the ground
Is as spectacular to watch as a ballet is to watch be preformed
Right outside your window

It starts with one tiny flake
That is so fragile,
It floats to the ground
Only to melt away

But
As time goes on
There are more of them
Like a dance in the sky
Which ends on the ground
Like a ballerina landing gracefully after a leap

But then the ground goes pale
The ground gets sick
Of leaves all on it
And the white blanket is put over it
To help the ground get some sleep
And it usually doesn’t wake up
Until spring
