Oh ancient modernity,
How I marvel at your wit.
Hoodwinking humanity,
Returning year after year
Each time in a new dress.

The author's comments:
while waiting for the public transit bus on my way home, i looked up and saw a hundred year old tree surrounded by countless electrical wires. the poem sort of wrote itself.
