Why did I have to get
The dad that I did
I didn’t even have a choice
I couldn’t even bargain or bid
Why did I have to get a dad
Who puts his new family before his old
While he keeps them safe and warm
He leaves me out in the cold
I miss the dad that I used to have
That would try to cheer me up when I was down
Used corny jokes to get me to giggle, or even laugh
Always tried to make a smile out of a frown
But now I have to accept
The fact that he’s moved on
Even though it hurts, the fact is
The dad I used to know is now and forevermore gone
