The Decline

Mutation of hearts
Pulled with the ups and downs
It’s when the crying starts
That words are merely sounds

As every cut begins to tear
The mind salts each gash
Soon your tolerance starts to wear
And the reactions become rash

Apologies come too often
The meanings have lost their touch
Hearts no longer soften
Each moment becomes too much

Love once pumped through veins
Now all that’s left is sorrow
Inside the chest a hole remains
Leaving emptiness for tomorrow
