It's hard to imagine
Things that go unnoticed
Such as the way sunlight slants through the leaves
Shading the Earth from the sun's forgiving rays
and flowers blooming in the most unexpected places
Winking up at you with eyes full of colorful secrets
while the wind whispers tantalizing words of knowledge in your ear
Floating among the dandelion seeds
Are only minutes from
The eye-drawing surface splendor
of flashing lights reflected off tall buildings
filled with powersuit robots
mirrored perfectly in the mannequins in storefronts
They pass by each day
Pleasing to the eye but empty inside.

About two years ago, my family and I were driving through the countryside on the way to a big city, and the difference of the two places stunned me and gave me the idea for this poem.
