You were the boy with blood so sweet,

tasting you was a sugar rush.

Using words like “always” and “forever”

and I hated you for it.

Too sweet.

Too sweet.

The bitterness coursing through my veins

repelled against your purity.

“Forever” is a lie and “always” is deception.

You tried to keep your promise.

“I want to make this work, I’ll do anything,” you said.

Blood pumping, liquid desperation filling my lungs.

Oil and water in human form.

We couldn’t mix.

I wouldn’t.

Pushed you away again and again, terrified

Of ruining your sweet innocence.

And now that your sweetness is gone,

I would do anything now

to taste it again.
