"Never underestimate the courage it takes to just keep going" ~Ashley Wylde

You

Hot and brutal

Eternal and preserved

In news broadcasts and social media posts

And most importantly our minds

….until you fall behind

No doubt memories will wear thin

And the destruction you created

Will be normalized and forgotten

Please don't get too mad again

We have to repair so much damage

Not from just this you

But from past yous too

We can't afford when you claim

Any more than you already have

Dark and evil

You

You

Stand like an intruder

But like a family member too

Take away so much

Like it all belonged to you

Like we did

Tears stung my eyes

As I watched the cathedral you set ablaze

The structure you consumed

With an undeniably rapid pace

I fell in love with it's structure

And I fall in love with history

But I hate living through this piece

You

You

Did this

You were discovered

And used to create warmth

But this feels cold

Right down to my bones

They described paris as romantic

And romance as heat

But I never expected you to give them

Exactly what was said

Now we have heavy hearts again

At least we can go to bed

Knowing that there were no injuries

And no deaths

Upon the day's end

And so I thank

You

For that little piece

For the peace

That will allow me to fall asleep

I ponder the meaning of chaos

And how it seems like a neighbor

Or maybe even family member

Or how it's really

You

This is said to fire, especially after the incident with the Notre Dame cathedral, where some of it burned.
